What Are Trigger Point Injections for Myofascial Pain Syndrome?

Trigger points are tight bands of muscle that form when muscles are overused or injured. These "knots" can cause pain right at the spot or send pain to other parts of your body (referred pain).

Trigger point injections use a fine needle to inject a small amount of local anaesthetic — sometimes with an anti-inflammatory — directly into the painful area. This helps relax the muscle and ease your pain.

Common Reasons to Get This Treatment

  • Chronic neck, shoulder, or lower back pain
  • Pain from sitting at a desk or lifting at work
  • Sports injuries or overuse
  • Muscle tightness that won’t go away
  • Myofascial pain syndrome

Even if other treatments haven’t helped, trigger point injections often provide fast and lasting relief.

How the Treatment Works

At RRMG, your comfort and safety come first. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Friendly Consultation – Dr Rogers will take time to understand your symptoms and pinpoint the exact source of your pain.
  2. Precise Injection – A tiny needle is used to deliver medication directly into the trigger point.
  3. Quick and Painless – The whole process only takes a few minutes. Most people say it feels like a small pinch — and some feel immediate relief!
  4. Back to Life – You can return to your usual activities right away, with less pain and more movement.
