WHAT IS Alpha-2 Macroglobulin [A2M]?

Osteoarthritis [OA] is a common and often debilitating health problem. The degenerative joint disease causes your cartilage to wear down and leads to stiffness and pain when your bones rub against each other. You’re more likely to develop OA if you are older, overweight or if you’ve suffered a joint injury in the past.

There are some options to treat OA, but they only offer temporary relief and treat the symptoms rather than the root cause. A2M is different. A2M treatment works at the source of OA – by neutralising the chemicals that cause joint degeneration; A2M treatment can not only tackle the symptoms but also slow the progression of the disease and even reverse it.

You may be a candidate if:

  • You need relief from pain and/or improvement in function
  • You suffer from an injury that limits your normal daily functioning or physical activity
  • Treatment options – including physical therapy, NSAIDs, steroid injections or viscosupplement – have not provided significant relief
  • You would like to explore an alternative to major surgery

A2M is a non-surgical alternative treatment for Arthritis

If you are looking for an alternative to joint surgery, A2M might be the treatment for you

If you have a tear, damaged or require repair to your cartilage, A2M can help

The root cause of OA is the presence of damaging chemicals in the joints. Catabolic proteases work by degrading cartilage and damaging your joints by breaking down the cells. This causes the pain, stiffness, swelling and restricted range of motion. A2M, which is found naturally in the blood, captures these chemicals produced in the damaged joint and neutralises their degenerative effects. A2M can protect your joints and will create an environment where cartilage cells can thrive.

A significant research study out of Brown University, in collaboration with the National Institute of Health, found that a joint injection of concentrated A2M provides cartilage protection in OA by stopping the progression of arthritis.

The results of this groundbreaking study suggest that an injection of concentrated A2M may stop the breakdown of cartilage and shut down the destructive inflammatory proteins in the joint. The study also found that early intervention could be critical for minimising the development of OA. An injection of A2M during the early phase of an injury is proving to be a powerful tool in preventing progressive arthritis in the affected joints. This can be especially powerful in preventing arthritis after an ACL repair.
